Potion Kit FAQS

Whether you’re new to potion play or a seasoned spellcaster, here are answers to your most commonly asked questions about our magical kits.

What age are the potion kits suitable for?

Our potion kits are designed with children aged 3+ in mind and are ideal for sensory play, imaginative exploration, and creative mixing. Adult supervision is recommended, especially during messy moments and bath-time potions.

Are the ingredients safe for bath-time?

Yes! Many of our ingredients are bath-safe and skin-friendly. We recommend avoiding contact with eyes and rinsing skin after use if needed.

What's included in each potion kit?

Each kit includes a mix of playful accessories and themed sensory ingredients, such as:

  • Wooden stirrer
  • Pipette
  • Test tube
  • Bath-safe elements like foaming salts, mica liquids, or botanical ingredients

Check individual product pages for full ingredient and accessory breakdowns.

Do I need to follow instructions or recipes?

No! Our potion kits are designed for open-ended, child-led, imaginative play. There are no rules, recipes, or instructions – just mix, stir, pour, and explore. That’s part of the magic!

Can I use these kits for parties or events?

Absolutely! We offer Party Packs and custom bundle options ideal for birthdays, Halloween, classroom treats, or creative goodie bags.

Minimum order quantities may apply for party packs.

Are the ingredients natural and eco-friendly?

Many of our materials are naturally sourced, including lentils, flour, botanicals, and bath-friendly salts. We aim to keep packaging reusable or recyclable wherever possible, and potion bottles are designed for repeated play.

How do I clean up afterwards?

Most messes clean up easily with warm water and a cloth. Potion trays, plastic tools, and cauldrons can be rinsed and reused. We recommend covering surfaces with a play mat or towel to catch spills.

Do you sell accessories separately?

Yes! Check out our Accessories Pack, which includes items like jugs, measuring cups, tweezers, funnels, and water blasters – ideal for potion mixing and messy tray setups.

Do you offer custom or seasonal kits?

We regularly launch seasonal kits (limited editions). Be sure to follow us on Instagram and join our newsletter to stay updated on magical drops!

Can I return a potion kit if I change my mind?

We accept returns within 28 days of dispatch as long as items are unused and in original packaging. Please review our Refund & Returns Policy for full details.

How Do Potion Kits Support Sensory Development?

Potion play is a powerful tool for sensory development, helping children engage multiple senses in a fun, hands-on way. Here’s how:

  • Visual stimulation – Bright colours, sparkles, and swirling liquids help develop visual tracking and colour recognition
  • Tactile exploration – Mixing textures like fizzing salts, smooth liquids, and gritty powders builds touch awareness and fine motor skills
  • Scented ingredients – Bath-safe aromas stimulate the sense of smell and create emotional connections
  • Auditory feedback – Bubbling, fizzing, and pouring sounds help children interpret sound and develop listening skills
  • Body awareness & movement – Pouring, squeezing, and stirring support proprioception and coordination
  • Calming and regulating – Sensory play can help children self-soothe, focus, and regulate emotions through repetitive, mindful actions

Potion kits encourage sensory integration, where children learn to process multiple sensory inputs at once – an essential skill for everyday life, learning, and emotional development.

Can Potion Play Support Emotional Regulation or Neurodiverse Children?

Yes, absolutely. Potion kits offer a gentle, engaging way to help children, especially those who are neurodiverse or sensory-sensitive, regulate their emotions, express creativity, and feel empowered through play. Here’s how:

  • Soothing, rhythmic actions like stirring, pouring, and squeezing pipettes can help reduce anxiety and support calm
  • Repetitive, predictable play offers comfort and structure, especially beneficial for children who thrive on routine
  • Open-ended exploration allows neurodiverse children to engage in their own way, building confidence and autonomy
  • Supports sensory processing needs by offering safe, multisensory experiences without overwhelming stimulation
  • Encourages self-expression when verbal communication feels difficult – children can express feelings through motion, colour, and imaginative storytelling
  • Fine motor engagement paired with visual and tactile feedback supports development in a low-pressure, joyful format
  • Can serve as a co-regulation tool – used with caregivers or peers to bond, communicate, and share play in meaningful ways

Potion play is not only fun, it’s therapeutic, affirming, and adaptable to a wide range of needs and personalities.
